The Next Phase of the Re-echo Training
With the requirements that we had i guess everybody is busy doing these. I am also trying to do same thing eventhough the SASE Booster review in our school had started last week and by next month we'll be in Marawi City for another Booster Review. I am hoping we could do it to the best of our abilities as ementors against all "busy works" that we will be facing.
Sir Meoh, Sir Garsh and Mam Maej thanks for always reminding us in all of our endeavors, we really need sometime to be reminded. Sorry for being quiet in time you send us messages but deep inside I am always thinking of them(requirements) most of the time.

Archiving all Lesson Plans Developed by CLIC Teachers
In view of the CLIC Teachers section in the GEM website (www.mindanao.org), please send me an ecopy of all lesson plans developed by co-teachers during the "re-echo" of IBM eMentor Program.
What's unique in this web page is that all lesson plans were created and (proudly) developed by CLIC teachers, therefore, all components indicated in the lesson plans can be realistically implemented given the context (in Mindanao) by which it is developed.
All lesson plans will be uploaded in the website which will be made available to all other teachers everywhere in the world. We are hoping the lesson plans posted will increase a hundredfold, which initiated with just 28 lesson plans developed by the Ementors. Imagine, 10 teachers for each eMentor and the lesson plans developed as an output at the end of each training session will be posted in the website, there will be total of 280 lesson plans in a just a few months. Imagine that the teachers you trained will train 5 more teachers (possibly) from other schools in the community?
We are hoping that the eMentor will create a "ripple-effect" and more and more lesson plans will be developed and shared to the rest of the world.
PLEASE SEND ALL LESSON PLANS DEVELOPED via email at maej@mindanao.org. In addition, please send me a summary table indicating names of teachers, contact info and their photos for proper reference once lesson plans are posted.
Best Regards,
Maej

Generator for the school...
Greeting of Peace to everyone. Hello...hello...hello!!!
I am please to announce to everybody that our PTCA Officials and members of our school had just bought a "Brand New Generator" intended for the use of computers and integrating technology in classroom instruction.
Infact, I am the first one to use it last wednesday July 5, 2006. Our school Principal Prof. Manis M. Didatar, Assistant Principal Prof. Lawan M. Lawi, and my co-faculties were so glad and amazed when they saw me lecturing using technology in my 2nd year class. Mrs. Omerah Andamun was her first time to see me lecturing integrating technology in my class, "Oh..it's so nice and amazing, all you have to do is to explain your lesson to the students. No need to write and write on the board" commented by Ms. Andamun as they observed my class last Wednesday. Our Assistant Principal Prof. Lawan to gether with her son also observed my class. When she saw my lesson she immediately called her son, Vandam, who is suffering from leukemia and is under going chemo therapy (see attached pictures) to have a sit-in in my class. He also enjoyed seeing the animated pictures and numbers in my lecture.
I am hoping that every teacher should adapt this kind of presenting lessons to the students. It motivates the students and makes them more active in the class.
Ms. Marie

eMentor's Commitment to IBM
But then I am also reminded of what eMentor is all about. I am reminded of the process we went through just to be picked up as one of the scholars. I am reminded of the great time we have in Davao as we went through that very rigid training. Best of all, I am reminded of the commitment and pledge that we made to the program.
What is this commitment? What is this pledge?
As beneficiaries of the eMentor program, we eMentors and scholars are committed and tasked to model, coach and facilitate the practice of contemporary teaching and learning. One of the purpose of the program is to spread out and disseminate the effective practice and integration of educational technology in our schools. Thus, we pledged to spread out the good word, the training of at least 10 teachers in our school or from nearby areas to achieve this main purpose.
I am nearly finished with my lesson presentations, and me and my co- MSU eMentors just concluded a very successful reecho seminar of 30 teachers from all over Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte. And another batch will be trained last week of July. We believe among us MSU Group "walang iwanan" ( no one should be left behind), because we believe we can conquer whatever comes our way if we stand together. For that matter, our group Ma'am Marie, Ma'am Sal, Ma'am Yam, Ma'am Venus, Ma'am Barbs, Sir Arnold and Sir Acsie, has been in this together from the beginning , middle and till the end of this whole program.
The real reward of this program are the smiles of the children as they see, learn and understand very well the lessons imparted to them. When you see them go well in the quizzes and evaluations as compared to their past standings, when you see them become more interested in your subject, now that's the real reward we mentors can get. And this is not just temporary, this is just the beginning. A beginning of more effective methods and strategies of teaching. It's a complete turnaround and change for some, but a very very good one nonetheless.
More power to the eMentor scholars! Press on!

arnold

Mechanics for Identifying Top eMentor Scholars
The primary purpose of the IBM eMentor Scholarship Program’s is to propagate and disseminate models of practice in technology integration; as such recognition of effective and appropriate use of educational technology tools as a means to enhance and improve educational results in their respective schools is imperative.
Because of the comprehensive process that is followed by the proponents in selecting and developing IBM eMentors, the following offers a mechanism for identifying top eMentors as it provides direction for teachers to understand what is expected of them.
Selection Criteria
The eMentors’ performance and effectiveness in the use of educational technology will be assessed in order to identify the Top IBM eMentors.
IBM eMentor Assessment Form. The IBM eMentor Assessment Form would be utilized to measure and track teachers’ performance and effectiveness during the program implementation period. It is comprised of appropriate rubrics that were prepared for specific indicators; the rubrics will serve as the primary performance measurement indicators to determine the eMentors’ success in the practice of the professional use of educational technology. The form is focused on the following domains:
1. Development and Implementation of ICT-Enabled Instructional Materials (50%)
2. Re-Echo Training (30%)
3. Teacher Collaboration (20%)
For the teacher evaluation to be more participatory, eMentors will be asked to rate himself/herself using the tool; eMentors will also be rated by representatives of EduQuest, GEM, and IBM utilizing the same tool.
eMentor’s Portfolio. eMentors are required to prepare their teacher portfolio in consultation with an EduQuest Instruction Specialist; the teacher portfolio will be submitted as proof of practice. The portfolio demonstrates the eMentor’s accomplishments and highlights his/her competencies as it is a diversified sample of a best works during the program implementation period.
eMentor Observation. For purposes of teacher evaluation, each eMentor must be observed in an instructional setting. The observation results and feedback would serve as a guide in validating information acquired from the IBM eMentor Assessment Form and eMentor Observation.
The aforementioned mechanics draws on the practice of the teacher during the program implementation period to ascertain the development in the eMentor’s competencies and to review their experience gained from the program. It is designed not only to encourage professional growth, but also to identify and validate already effective instructional practices utilizing educational technology.
The IBM eMentor Assessment Form can be downloaded from the eMentor yahoo group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IBMeMentor2006/.

What a feeling!
Alhamdulillah! At last we finished the very tiresome and MADUGONG re-echo training yesterday. I thought we couldn't do it but I was wrong. We had done it with the help and support of our top officials here in MSU System. A sense of accomplishment was depicted in everyone's face (IBM eMentor Scholars, MSU Chapter).
