Top 30 IBM eMentor Scholars Selected

The Top 30 scholars of the 2005 IBM e-Mentor Scholarship will be announced soon. The list of scholars represents about 25 public secondary schools in the ARMM region. These teachers will undergo an extensive training on the rudiments of curriculum technology integration to be conducted by instruction specialists from EduQuest, Inc. On the other hand, GEM is mobilizing these teachers for the training set on December of this year. A practicum follows immediately after the training where the scholars are monitored and coached on the practice of educational technology for a period of four months. A recognition of practice will be conducted April 2006 to celebrate the successes of these teachers.

IBM e-Mentor Scholarship Program 2005

The IBM e-Mentor is a Corporate Community Relations Program on Teacher Professional Development in educational technology spear-headed by IBM Philippines in cooperation with EduQuest, Inc. and the USAID-funded Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM). As the traditional role of teachers is now challenged by new methods and strategies enhanced and facilitated by the power of Information and Computer Technology (ICT) applications and tools,

IBM e-Mentor aims to develop The Contemporary Teacher of the 21st Century, one who is enabled to apply and adapt effective use of ICT to inspire interest and motivate students to become lifelong learners; impart knowledge; and facilitate community participation as partners in learning.

Training is tentatively set on December 5-14, 2005 in Davao City.
