We've done it !

To my co-eMentors scholars!

Au Revoir! 'Till we meet again in some other time and place!

The final phase of the monitoring which is the THE FINAL DEMONSTRATION is over. But the preparations of the lesson was so challenging in the sense that you will be thinking of a good presentation which is a good tool for the students to learn and enhance their critical thinking skills. Inspite of those, it is worth gratifying to say that we had learned a lot and this could be a lifelong experience. The practices that each of the mentors implemented to students is just a beginning of becoming a contemporary teacher in the 21st century. With this opportunity expressing thanks is not enough of how much you had touched our lives and opened the gate to our places in which technology is far behind to reality in the education system of the province. With the existence of the USAID program, our school is one of the recipient of the aid of giving computer units and VSAT where an internet connection is available and helps our students, co-faculty and even the community to the world in such a way that by just a click of your finger tips you may able to tour the world of information.

Thank you very much to the IBM-USAID, GEM-CLIC,EDUQUEST and to our school administrators for giving us this opportunity to join this intensive training of integrating technology in classroom scenario.

Sir Meoh thanks for the support and the knowledge you had shared to all of us and to Sir Garsh my heartfelt thanks also.

Mabuhay at Wasalam! Thanks also to my co-ementor scholars in MSU that no matter what happen we're still united. To Maam Venus, to my friend Saliah, to maam Yam, to Maam Marie , Maam Norain and to Sir Acsie and of course to Aquil and Maam Carol.Thank you for being kind, thoughtful and understanding.

my wish as IBM Program ends...!

As i set my eyes on the calendar its now October 27 a day before our final class observation. its almost the end... the last farewell... perhaps the last getting together with co-ementors. yes, we have reached so far. we've touched and got the interest of our learners. we imparted changes in our profession. we challenged our way of teaching. we engaged on the modern way of living. we communicated to the whole world. we delivered the best infromation. we informed and taught others.............................. so much we have done!!!! counting all those things may bring joy and satisfaction... but whats next after all these things?

i have wish as we bid goodbye............ i hope this will not be the end but the start in bringing the right education in our homeland - Mindanao. yes i must confess we are very much far behind as far as education is concern. lets build a strong bond instead to upgrade the educational system that we have. i know it doesnt stop here. i believe then we (ementor scholars) possess the spirit of courage, perseverance and the willingness to carry our common vision! putting a period of this program will make us surrender to become a contemporary teachers!!!!!!

before we finally say adieu i'd like to thanks all people behind this precious program. to the GEM-CLIC, IBM, EDUQUEST, AND USAID.........YOURE BEYOND COMPARE! NO WORDS COULD EVER EXPRESS HOW MUCH APPRECIATION TO YOU. OUR MILLION SATISFACTION TO YOU!!!GOD BLESS US ALL

Measuring areas through technology...?!

When I reported back to school last October 4, I am very much surprise when I entered my class. Know why? They are begging me to have our class discussion again in PowerPoint! They said they missed so much our class discussion because as we discussed using technology, they enjoy while learning. Sometimes, some other students just raised their hands to answer just to because they know their photos are taken. I just smiled and answered, "We will come to that...."

So, to keep my promised, we discussed our lesson again using the available materials about areas of quadrilaterals. It's a success because the students could see and view the figures clearly with all the matching colors and so on. So, everytime the camera is on...they know already that photos are taken.

Wassalam,

Ms. Marie

September and October Experiences...

For almost a month I have been out of school due to some unavoidable circumstances. Life in this world is full of surprises. We experience ups and downs. But then, if we just hold on, all these trials in our life is a matter of saying "damn with problems...let the problem problems itself.

As for me, trials is not new to me because I live as I believed. If there's a trial there's something new and good things that comes in my way. And that's what happened to me in just a matter of twenty days of out of school.

Finally, my co-teacher, Prof. Anabelie V. Valdez, Physics and Chemistry teacher, had just presented her first PowerPoint Presentation on "Stoichiometry 1 & 2" for her third year classes. She had designed her own PowerPoint as she promised me to make it as soon as our MSU-SASE Booster review is finished. Voila!!! Even my absence in school, she had presented her work with all her documentations because I have told her that I needed very much a documentation for her presentation. Thanks for our students who have their own Nokia cell cameras, most especially to Ms. Morzida Azis, we always use her cell phone for our documentations.

One more thing, when I reported back in school, I lectured again using PowerPoint and the materials given to us during our training in Davao City about Areas of Quadrilaterals. And during my discussion, accidentally our Assistant Principal, Prof. Lawan M. Lawi, visited our Computer Laboratory room and saw me discussing again using PowerPoint. She asked me if she can also use PowerPoint in her class discussion. So, I said, "Of course yes!" But then she wandered how can that be she knows nothing about computers. I just ask what's her topic so that I can personally assist her. When she said it's all about "Idioms", I showed her the PowerPoint Presentation that Sir Meoh has sent us. So, after my class, she delivered her lesson using that material with my assistance.

I hope and wish that all my co-teachers will use and learn how to use technology in their classroom discussion.

Good Luck to all and regards.

Ms. Marie

Goodluck and God Bless to Everyone!

Hello co-IBM eMentors! I am wishing you all the luck for the final phase of our 9 month practice of technology in our classroom scenario in which the instruments and the materials that we had utilized really inspire our students, administrators, parents and the community that we are not far behind of the changing world of technology that even we are in the part of Mindanao that seemed to be in the remote areas we are still "in" as what big cities had in their daily class activities. We had all of these skills and practices through the USAID, EDUQUEST,GEM-CLIC. Thank you for the opportnity that each of us had. Without you these things will noy be realized. SOAR HIGH!

Basic PC Troubleshooting and Repair Seminar

Last Sept. 29 till Oct. 1, GEM-CLICK sponsored a Basic Troubleshooting and PC Repair Maintenance Seminar. It was held in Iligan Computer Institute and was attended by 90 teachers from Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Norte and MSU. As usual, all the IBM scholars were present, namely Ma'am Marie, Ma'am Sal, Ma'am Barbs, Ma'am Yam and Sir Arnold.
It was a fun seminar where we diassemble and assembled back hardwares, downloaded Operating System, and taught how to solve software problems..

This is a very important course for all of us, especially with IBM Ementor, where we always encounter hardware and software problems. It was hard for us muslims since we had to do it in this Ramadhan. But it went smoothly and was successul amidst our rumbling bellies..
Thanks to GEM and USAID for this program..You have helped us improve our skills which would help us cope with IBM eMentoring.

Thanks All..

Why the Long Absence?

Salaam everyone..

Yes, why the long absence? I think my last entry was a month ago..Ramadhan started last 23, its the time of month where muslims wordlwide open fast at dawn and break it at dusk..Open fast means you can't have anything whole day, not even water let alone any solid food..This is time for repentance and to have the faith strengthened.

Thanks to technology, our work is made much easier..We don't have to stand all day, and write lectures on the board..All we do is click and click and let the students discover everything..So for this month of Ramadhan, it's not that hard for us to keep our fast. Technology is helping us preserve our strength and let us do our work effectively. Usually is the case, teachers just sit quitely and makes feeble attempts on discussing lecture, especially in the afternoon when we are all devoid of strength. This is a perfect example of technology making our faith stronger, technology meeting religion.

Even without me posting anything, it doesn't mean that my classroom implementation is also sitting idle..Far from it.. As I have said earlier, I have done my classes this ramadhan using the lesson presentations that I have made..And it is all documented..

Ramdhan Mubarak to all my Muslim brothers and sisters.

Thanks All..
