eMentor's Commitment to IBM

As I read Sir Meoh's posts at the YahooGroup, Blogspot, and Mentorplace, I can't help but feel overwhelmed with all the things that still need to be done.

But then I am also reminded of what eMentor is all about. I am reminded of the process we went through just to be picked up as one of the scholars. I am reminded of the great time we have in Davao as we went through that very rigid training. Best of all, I am reminded of the commitment and pledge that we made to the program.

What is this commitment? What is this pledge?

As beneficiaries of the eMentor program, we eMentors and scholars are committed and tasked to model, coach and facilitate the practice of contemporary teaching and learning. One of the purpose of the program is to spread out and disseminate the effective practice and integration of educational technology in our schools. Thus, we pledged to spread out the good word, the training of at least 10 teachers in our school or from nearby areas to achieve this main purpose.

I am nearly finished with my lesson presentations, and me and my co- MSU eMentors just concluded a very successful reecho seminar of 30 teachers from all over Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte. And another batch will be trained last week of July. We believe among us MSU Group "walang iwanan" ( no one should be left behind), because we believe we can conquer whatever comes our way if we stand together. For that matter, our group Ma'am Marie, Ma'am Sal, Ma'am Yam, Ma'am Venus, Ma'am Barbs, Sir Arnold and Sir Acsie, has been in this together from the beginning , middle and till the end of this whole program.

The real reward of this program are the smiles of the children as they see, learn and understand very well the lessons imparted to them. When you see them go well in the quizzes and evaluations as compared to their past standings, when you see them become more interested in your subject, now that's the real reward we mentors can get. And this is not just temporary, this is just the beginning. A beginning of more effective methods and strategies of teaching. It's a complete turnaround and change for some, but a very very good one nonetheless.

More power to the eMentor scholars! Press on!
